PIVOT!

Tiffanny Youngquist

A PIVOT OF PLANS

The picture above is of an infamous scene from the sitcom Friends. In this scene a group of friends are attempting to move a couch up a winding staircase to an apartment. The leader of the group directs his partners by yelling out the word "PIVOT" again and again. This scene came to mind when I was deciding how to describe our current season with the Henry County Women's Recovery Center. We are in a season of pivoting.

Due to state and local building codes we will not be able to open the house on A Avenue as a live-in recover center. Possession of the house is being returned to Foursquare. While our real estate partnership with Foursquare is ending, they will continue to support the ministry of the Henry County Women's Recovery Center in other ways. Currently, we have not other options for a live-in facility and therefore are focusing all of our resources on providing recovery and restoration to women suffering from addiction through our classes.

Mondays and Wednesdays women gather together for instruction on Brain Rewiring and key concepts of the Christian faith. Group discussions and one-on-one meetings with an addicition and recovery coach all assist women in building the foundations for long term recovery. Women are also invited to participate in individual Emotional Healing Sessions to help with trauma recovery, releasing forgiveness and breaking generational patterns.

As we continue to pray through all the changes and pivots we keep Philippians 4:6 in mind. We remain dedicated to the original vision of a live-in center focused on fully restoring the women of Henry County who have suffered under the oppression of alcohol or drug addicition. We petition God through prayer for a way to open the center in His perfect timing. We remain thankful for this opportunity and pivot of our plans because we know and trust that His plans and timing are perfect.

A PIVOT OF PEOPLE

Building a board is no small or easy task and with the death of board member and supporter Art McCorkle we had a large task ahead of us. God knew our needs and provided. Over the last few months we have added two amazing members to our board. Duke Hamm and Brian Hughes are both pillars in our community to give generously of their time and talents to many worthy organizations in Henry County and we are proud to be counted among them. We excited to see how God will use these to men in the development and growth of the Henry County Women's Recovery Center.

A PIVOT OF PRESENTATION

With all of the pivots of plans and people we recognize a need to update our website. Chrissy Neal is an amazing website designer who is helping us to reimagine what a compelling and functional website should look like for us in this season. Now, the website's focus will mirror our own of bringing recovery and restoration through classes. There is a registration form and ways to donate to provide a scholarship to women enrolling in the classes.

We are greateful for your patience as we go through the changes and encourage you to visit our page often to see the new updates. We also invite you to give us your feedback. What do you think is working well and what could use some tweaking? Please email any suggestions to us at info@henrycountywomensrecoverycenter.com.

PARTNER WITH US

Though the need for recovery is great in Henry County, word about our classes and how we are helping women still needs to be spread. If you know of a woman who is suffering or has suffered from alcohol or drug addiction please tell them about our classes. Encourage them to call, text or email us to learn more and get registered. Women can join a class at any time and though the 8 week course does cost $800 we never deny classes to any woman for an inability to pay. Which brings us to our second need. Would you please consider sponsoring a woman in recovery? Click here!
